John 7:17 ESV - If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.
The first prayer I ever prayed to God was a simple one. I had no experience in church or in prayer or in talking to God. It was simply this: "God, if what I am doing is your will for my life then I will do it. But if it is not, then please show me and make it plain because I am new at this." My heart's desire was to do the will of God for my life. God answered my prayer and my life was changed.
In this passage, Jesus is saying that if anyone's will is to do God's will then they will know whether Jesus is speaking the truth or not. If we truly offer our free will to God's will instead of our own plans, God will guide us and He will not let us falter.
Do you want to do God's will for your life? Start today by being willing to do His will. Ask Him to guide you and be willing to follow Him wherever He leads you.
Prayer: God, it is my will to do your will. I want to fulfill what you have for my life even if it is different than what I had planned. Show me what you want me to do and make it plain to me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
